Are you struggling to work through personal issues that you’ve been unable to resolve on your own? Are you having issues with your current relationship, or need help getting out of a relationship? Have you had experiences that are causing you to feel unhappy, anxious or confused? There is no reason to feel alone or stuck, I can help you to not only resolve these issues, but to become happier and more content. I strive to create a nurturing and safe environment, by incorporating humor and friendship in my practice. I have found this to be very effective in furthering the progress and positive experience that therapy can bring.

I have spent much of my career working with clients who are experiencing relationship issues, which is a great passion of mine. I believe that the therapy should focus on helping my clients get ‘unstuck’, and to help each individual find their way to happiness. This can range from simply teaching clients how to better communicate, or helping them exit out of an unhealthy relationship. Working with couples can be a challenge, and I have a firm belief that specialized training is necessary in order to offer appropriate treatment. As a result, I have studied extensively both Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, in addition to other, more general couple’s therapy techniques.

I have studied and focused a lot of my work on couples who have experienced infidelity in their relationship, and have had much success in helping them navigate through the trauma that is associated with this painful event. Infidelity in a relationship can be a key turning point, it can break a couple apart or bring them closer together; I help couples find their personal path for healing.

I also have a passion for working with people who have experienced trauma of varying degrees. I have gone through training to become an EMDR specialist, which is a unique and effective treatment for any person who has experienced trauma of any severity.

Additionally, I have experience and training in working with mood disorders, depression, anxiety and other conditions that may impact one’s ability to achieve happiness and success.

“Dr. Jen really struck a good balance between support and instruction with me. When I needed a very specific behavioral change. She was direct but also allowed me to take control of my own life. Also, I never felt patronized or belittled. That was very important for me, to be trusting and open to getting right to the root of the problem instead of wasting time testing boundaries.”

"I really liked how Jennifer was down to earth and talked to me like a knowledgeable friend. She listened and advised without judgement, which allowed me to open up and be honest, which is the only way to start the treatment process. She helped me turn my life around and made me come to realizations on my own through our conversations."

"Jen is so amazing, I can tell her things that I cannot tell anyone else and never fear that she will judge me or tell others. If it weren’t for Jen, I do not think that I would I’ve been able to quit drinking, or it would have at least been a hell of a lot more difficult."

"I was not sure what to expect when i was searching for a therapist in my area, but like a lot of things in life, you just kind of know when it feels like the right fit. Jen from Coastal Counseling was immediately responsive and happy to answer all of my questions. Price was a bit of a concern for me as I hadn't hit my insurance deductible at that time, but Jen was able to work with me on a sliding scale price that was well within my comfort range, which allowed me to focus on therapy and not stress out about the cost. This has been a great experience for me and I would recommend these guys to anyone."

"It is nice to be able to talk about subjects, feelings, and thoughts that have bothered me for such a long time in  a safe and nonjudgemental environment. I also like the fact that I am held accountable for my lack of action in situations where an action has been recommended." — Kim, Oceanside
